machine translationHe said: And on this topic there are narrations from ʿAlī and Abū Hurayrah. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Wāʾil b. Ḥujr is a good (ḥasan) hadith. More than one of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, the Successors and those after them hold this view: that a man should raise his voice with "āmīn" and not conceal it. Al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq hold this view. Shuʿbah narrated this hadith from Salamah b. Kuhayl, from Ḥujr Abū al-ʿAnbas, from ʿAlqamah b. Wāʾil, from his father: that the Prophet ﷺ recited {غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ} and said "āmīn", lowering his voice with it. Abū ʿĪsā said: I heard Muḥammad [al-Bukhārī] say: The hadith of Sufyān is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) than the hadith of Shuʿbah on this. Shuʿbah made mistakes in several places in this hadith. He said "from Ḥujr Abū al-ʿAnbas", but he is only Ḥujr b. ʿAnbas, whose kunyah is Abū al-Sakan. He also added "from ʿAlqamah b. Wāʾil", yet ʿAlqamah is not in it; it is only from Ḥujr b. ʿAnbas, from Wāʾil b. Ḥujr. And he said "he lowered his voice with it", but it is only "he extended his voice with it". Abū ʿĪsā said: I asked Abū Zurʿah about this hadith and he said: The hadith of Sufyān on this is more authentic than the hadith of Shuʿbah. He said: Al-ʿAlāʾ b. Ṣāliḥ al-Asadī narrated from Salamah b. Kuhayl something like the narration of Sufyān.

machine translationIn my view this is a mistake. It is only Ḥujr b. ʿAnbas, from Wāʾil. This comes from Ibn Abī Laylā, for he was poor in memorization (sayyiʾ al-ḥifẓ).
