machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: This is a ḥadīth whose chain of transmission is not so strong. A number of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ held this view, among them Abū Hurayrah, Ibn ʿUmar, Ibn ʿAbbās and Ibn al-Zubayr, and those after them among the Followers (tābiʿūn), who held that "Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm" is to be recited aloud. Al-Shāfiʿī says likewise. Ismāʿīl b. Ḥammād is the son of Abū Sulaymān. Abū Khālid, it is said, is Abū Khālid al-Wālibī, whose name is Hurmuz, and he is a Kufan.
