machine translationMuḥammad b. Bashshār narrated to us, Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar narrated to us, from Shuʿbah, from Yaʿlā b. ʿAṭāʾ, from his father, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr, something similar, and he did not raise it to the Prophet (marfūʿ), and this is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ). Abū ʿĪsā said: Thus the companions of Shuʿbah narrated from Shuʿbah, from Yaʿlā b. ʿAṭāʾ, from his father, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr, as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf), and we do not know anyone who raised it other than Khālid b. al-Ḥārith, from Shuʿbah. Khālid b. al-Ḥārith is trustworthy (thiqah) and reliable (maʾmūn). He said: I heard Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā say: I have not seen in Basrah anyone like Khālid b. al-Ḥārith, nor in Kufa anyone like ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs. He said: On this topic there is also a narration from ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd.
