That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever fashions an image, he will be punished by Allah until he breathes into it - meaning the soul - and he cannot breath (a soul) into it. And whoever listens to a people's conversation, while they have gone away from him for it, then He will have lead poured into his ears on the Day of Judgement."

machine translationThere is disagreement about it concerning ʿIkrimah. Qatādah narrated it from ʿIkrimah from Abū Hurayrah, and there is disagreement from him about whether it was raised (marfūʿ): Hammām and al-Ḥakam b. ʿAbd al-Malik raised it from Qatādah, while Abū ʿAwānah made it a statement of the Companion (mawqūf) from Qatādah. Abū Hāshim al-Rummānī narrated it from ʿIkrimah from Abū Hurayrah as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf). Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī narrated it from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās. Both versions are preserved (maḥfūẓ).
