machine translationHe said: When Ibn ʿUmar bought something while sitting, he would stand up so that the sale would become binding for him. Abū ʿĪsā said: On this topic there are narrations from Abū Barzah, Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām, ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbbās, ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr, Samurah and Abū Hurayrah. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Ibn ʿUmar is a good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith. Some of the people of knowledge, among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ and others, act upon this, and it is the view of al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq. They said: Separation is by the bodies, not by speech. Some of the people of knowledge have said that the meaning of the Prophet's ﷺ words "as long as they have not separated" is separation by speech. But the first view is more sound, because Ibn ʿUmar is the one who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ, and he knows best the meaning of what he narrated. It is also narrated from him that when he wanted to make a sale binding, he would walk so that it would become binding for him. Likewise it was narrated from Abū Barzah al-Aslamī.

machine translationYaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Anṣārī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Abū Ḍamrah Anas b. ʿIyāḍ narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, from al-Qāsim, from Ibn ʿUmar. Al-Zubayr b. Bakkār related it from him, and there is disagreement about him as well: it was said that he related it from Abū Ḍamrah, from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar, from al-Qāsim, but this statement is not sound (ṣaḥīḥ). Hishām, Abū Shihāb al-Ḥannāṭ and Muḥammad b. Fuḍayl narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, and this is the correct (ṣawāb) version.
