حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ يَقُولُ:
سَأَلْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ وَزَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ عَنِ الصَّرْفِ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَسْأَلُ أَحَدَهُمَا فَيَقُولُ: سَلِ الْآخَرَ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ. فَسَأَلْتُهُمَا فَحَدَّثَانِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَرِقِ بِالذَّهَبِ نَسَاءً
Translation

✧ I asked al-Bara' b. 'Azib and Zayd b. Arqam about exchanging money. I would ask one of them and he would say: Ask the other, for he is better than me and more knowledgeable. So I asked them both and they narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling silver for gold on credit.
