حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ يَقُولُ:
سَأَلْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ وَالْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ عَنِ الصَّرْفِ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَسْأَلُ أَحَدَهُمَا فَيَقُولُ: سَلِ الْآخَرَ فَإِنَّهُ أَفْضَلُ مِنِّي ! فَسَأَلْتُهُمَا فَحَدَّثَانِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الذَّهَبِ بِالْوَرِقِ نَسَاءً
Translation

✧ I asked Zayd b. Arqam and al-Bara' b. 'Azib about money exchange. I asked one of them and he said: Ask the other, for he is better than me! I asked them both and they told me that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade selling gold for silver on credit.
