حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيِّ قَالَ:

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُسَوِّي مَنَاكِبَنَا، يَعْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ، وَيَقُولُ: اسْتَوُوا، وَلَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ، وَلْيَلِنِي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنُّهَى "، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ "، قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ: فَأَنْتُمُ الْيَوْمَ أَشَدُّ اخْتِلَافًا

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to straighten our shoulders, meaning in prayer, and say: “Stand straight and do not differ, lest your hearts differ. Let those of you with maturity and sound judgement stand nearest to me, then those next to them, then those next to them.” Abū Masʿūd said: “Today you differ more severely.”
