✧ I heard a hadith from a man and it impressed me, and I desired to write it down. I said: 'Write it for me.' He brought it to me written in a clear script. He said: Al-'Abbas and 'Ali entered upon 'Umar ؓ while they were disputing. He said: With 'Umar were Talhah, al-Zubayr, Sa'd, and 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf ؓ. 'Umar said to them: 'I adjure you by Allah, did you not know, or did you not hear, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed all the property of the Prophet ﷺ is charity, except what he fed his family or clothed them. Indeed we are not inherited from."?' They said: 'Yes, indeed.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spend from his property on his family and give the surplus as charity.
