حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ:

أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ نَشَدَ النَّاسَ فِيهِمْ طَلْحَةُ، وَالزُّبَيْرُ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ وَالْعَبَّاسِ ؓ: هَلْ تَعْلَمَانِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ ؟ فَقَالُوا: نَعَمْ، وَقَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ: نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ Umar ؓ adjured the people about it, among them Talha, al-Zubayr, and Abd al-Rahman, and he said to Ali and al-Abbas ؓ: Do you both know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We are not inherited; what we leave is sadaqa? They said: Yes. And Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ said: Yes.
