✧ We fasted Ramadan with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did not lead us in night prayer at all during the month, until the night of the twenty-fourth, the seventh remaining. He prayed with us until nearly a third of the night had passed. On the night of the twenty-fifth he did not pray with us. On the night of the twenty-sixth, the fifth remaining, he prayed with us until nearly half the night had passed. I said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you would continue with us for the rest of our night. He said: "No. When a man prays with the imam until he finishes, the standing of a whole night is written for him." On the night of the twenty-seventh he did not pray with us. On the night of the twenty-eighth, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to his family and the people gathered for him, and he prayed with us until we almost missed the pre-dawn meal. Then, O son of my brother, he did not pray with us at all for the rest of the month.
