✧ I came to al-Yashkuri, and he said: What has brought you, O Banu Layth? He said: We said: We have come to ask you about the hadith of Hudhayfah. He said: Prices of animals rose, so we came to al-Kufah to bring animals from it. I said to my companion: I will enter the mosque, and if the market is open I will go out to it. I entered the mosque, and there was a circle as if their heads had been cut off, gathered around a man. I came and stood, and said: Who is this? He said: Are you from the people of al-Kufah? I said: No, rather from the people of al-Basrah. He said: If you were from the people of al-Kufah, you would not ask about this. This is Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman. He said: I said: O Messenger of God, is there after this good any evil? He said: O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of God and follow what is in it. I said: O Messenger of God, is there after this good any evil? He said: A truce upon corruption. I said: O Messenger of God, what is a truce upon corruption? He said: The hearts of people will not return to what they were upon. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said: Then there will be a blind and deaf tribulation, callers of misguidance - or he said: callers of the Fire - and for you to bite onto a stump - meaning a tree - is better for you than to follow any one of them.
