حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

" لَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ أَذَانُ بِلَالٍ مِنْ سُحُورِكُمْ، فَإِنَّمَا يُؤَذِّنُ لِيَرْجِعَ قَائِمُكُمْ، وَلِيَسْتَيْقِظَ نَائِمُكُمْ، وَلَا هَذَا الْفَجْرُ الَّذِي هُوَ هَكَذَا - يَعْنِي السَّاطِعَ -، وَلَكِنَّ الْفَجْرَ الَّذِي هُوَ هَكَذَا - يَعْنِي الْمُسْتَطِيلَ

Translation

✧ Let not Bilal's call to prayer deceive you about your pre-dawn meal, for he only calls so that your standing one may return and your sleeping one may awaken. And not this dawn that is like this—meaning the bright spread one—but the dawn that is like this—meaning the elongated one.
