حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ:
" مَنْ يَتَكَفَّلُ لِي بِوَاحِدَةٍ أَتَقَبَّلْ - أَوْ أَتَكَفَّلْ - لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ ثَوْبَانُ: فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. قَالَ: " لَا تَسْأَلْ أَحَدًا شَيْئًا " فَقَالَ: فَكَانَ ثَوْبَانُ رُبَّمَا وَقَعَ سَوْطُهُ فَيَنْزِلُ حَتَّى يَتَنَاوَلَهُ

✧ Who will guarantee me one thing, and I will guarantee—or I will take responsibility—for him Paradise? Thawban said: I said: I will, O Messenger of God. He said: "Do not ask anyone for anything." He said: Thawban would sometimes drop his whip and dismount to pick it up himself.
