حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنِ الْحَكَمِ وَفُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا نَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَا تَقُولُوا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ؛ فَإِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ وَلَكِنْ قُولُوا التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

✧ We used to say in the prayer, 'Peace be upon Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ heard that and said, 'Do not say, "Peace be upon Allah," for Allah is as-Salam. Rather say: At-tahiyyatu lillahi was-salawatu wat-tayyibatu; as-salamu 'alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu; as-salamu 'alayna wa 'ala 'ibadillahis-salihin. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluhu.'
