حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أنا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَنَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ وَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَمْ تُجَمِّعْ فَسَأَلَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «صَدَقَ أُبَيٌّ»

✧ He asked Ubayy b. Ka'b, while the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon, about a verse from the Book of Allah. Ubayy turned away from him and did not reply. When he finished his prayer, he said: "You did not perform the Friday prayer properly." So Ibn Mas'ud asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "Ubayy spoke the truth."
