حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
«إِنَّكُمْ فِي زَمَانٍ قَلِيلٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ كَثِيرٌ عُلَمَاؤُهُ يُطِيلُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيَقْصُرُونَ الْخُطْبَةَ وَإِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ كَثِيرٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ قَلِيلٌ عُلَمَاؤُهُ يُطِيلُونَ الْخُطْبَةَ وَيُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يُقَالَ هَذَا شَرْقُ الْمَوْتَى» قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا شَرْقُ الْمَوْتَى؟ قَالَ «إِذَا اصْفَرَّتِ الشَّمْسُ جِدًّا فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنِ احْتَبَسَ فَلْيُصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلْيَجْعَلْ صَلَاتَهُ وَحْدَهُ الْفَرِيضَةَ وَصَلَاتَهُ مَعَهُمْ تَطَوُّعًا»

✧ “You are in a time whose preachers are few and scholars many; they make the prayer long and the sermon short. There will come upon you a time whose preachers are many and scholars few; they make the sermon long and delay the prayer until it is said: ‘This is the glow of the dead.’” I said to him: “What is the glow of the dead?” He said: “When the sun turns very yellow. Whoever of you reaches that should pray the prayer at its proper time; if he is detained, let him pray with them and make his prayer alone the obligatory one and his prayer with them voluntary.”
