حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ يَحْلِفُ فَيَبْلُغُ بِالْيَمِينِ «مَا مِنْ مُصَلَّى الْمَرْأَةِ خَيْرٌ لَهَا مِنْ بَيْتِهَا إِلَّا فِي حَجٍّ أَوْ عَمْرَةٍ إِلَّا امْرَأَةً يَئِسَتْ مِنَ الْبُعُولَةِ فَهِيَ فِي مَنْقَلَيْهَا» قُلْتُ مَا مَنْقَلَيْهَا؟ قَالَ «امْرَأَةٌ عَجُوزٌ قَدْ تَقَارَبَ خَطْوُهَا»

✧ I heard the Lord of this house swearing an oath and going far in the oath: "There is no prayer place for a woman better for her than her house, except in Hajj or 'Umrah, except a woman who has despaired of marriage, for she is in her manqalayha." I said, "What is her manqalayha?" He said, "An old woman whose steps have become short."
