حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
أَنَّ مَسْرُوقًا وَجُنْدَبًا انْتَهَيَا إِلَى الْإِمَامِ وَقَدْ سُبِقَا بِرَكْعَةٍ فَلَمْ يَقْرَأْ مَسْرُوقٌ وَقَرَأَ جُنْدُبٌ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ كِلَاكُمَا لَمْ يَأْلُ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ وَالْقَوْلُ مَا صَنَعَ مَسْرُوقٌ
Translation

✧ Masruq and Jundab reached the imam after they had missed a rakʿah. Masruq did not recite, while Jundab recited. They mentioned that to ʿAbd Allah, and he said: "Neither of you has fallen short in the matter, but the correct course is what Masruq did."
