حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْحَرَشِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَا تَخْلِطُوا بِالْقُرْآنِ مَا لَيْسَ فِيهِ فَإِنَّمَا هُمَا مُعَوِّذَتَانِ تَعَوَّذَ بِهِمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَمْحُوهُمَا مِنَ الْمُصْحَفِ

✧ He used to say: Do not mix into the Quran what is not in it. They are only two surahs of seeking refuge with which the Prophet ﷺ sought refuge: “Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak” and “Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind.” And ʿAbdullah used to erase them from the mushaf.
