حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ أَنَا مُغِيرَةُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي قَوْلِهِ {أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ} قَالَ «كَانَ نَاسٌ يَعْبُدُونَهُمْ فَأَسْلَمَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَهُمْ وَلَا يَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَهُمْ فَعَيَّرَهُمُ اللهُ ﷻ بِذَلِكَ» فَقَالَ {أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ}

✧ From ʿAbd Allah regarding His saying {Those whom they call upon seek the means of nearness to their Lord} (Q 17:57): “There were people who used to worship them. Then those who had been worshipping them accepted Islam, while those who had been worshipped did not know. So Allah ﷻ rebuked them for that,” and he said: {Those whom they call upon seek the means of nearness to their Lord} (Q 17:57).
