حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ قَالَا قَالَ
عَبْدُ اللهِ إِنَّ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ لَآيَتَيْنِ مَا أَذْنَبَ عَبْدٌ ذَنْبًا فَقَرَأَهُمَا فَاسْتَغْفَرَ اللهَ إِلَّا غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ {وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَنْ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا اللهُ} وَقَوْلُهُ {وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللهَ يَجِدِ اللهَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا}

✧ ʿAbdullāh said: In the Book of God there are two verses; no servant commits a sin then recites them and seeks God's forgiveness except that God forgives him: {And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember God and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except God?} and His saying {And whoever does evil or wrongs himself, then seeks God's forgiveness, will find God Forgiving, Merciful}.
