✧ ʿAbd Allāh was approached and it was said to him: O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, there are people here reciting the recitation of Musaylimah. ʿAbd Allāh sent him back, and he stayed as long as God willed him to stay. Then he came to him and said: By the One by whom I swear, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, I have left them now in a house, and that muṣḥaf is indeed with them. So he ordered Qaraẓah b. Kaʿb, and he set out with the people with him, and said: “Bring them.” When they were brought, ʿAbd Allāh said: “What is this after the spread of Islam?” They said: O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, we ask God's forgiveness and repent to Him, and we bear witness that Musaylimah is the liar who fabricated against God and His Messenger. He said: So ʿAbd Allāh asked them to repent and sent them to Syria, and they were nearly eighty men. Ibn al-Nawwāḥah refused to repent, so he ordered Qaraẓah b. Kaʿb concerning him, and he took him out to the market and struck his neck, and ordered him to take his head and throw it into his mother's lap. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd Allāh said: I met an old man among them later in Syria, and he said: May God have mercy on your father. By God, if he had killed us that day, we would all have entered the Fire.
