حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ
كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَأُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ فَقَالَ «نَاوِلْهُ الْقَوْمَ» فَقَالُوا نَحْنُ صِيَامٌ فَقَالَ «لَكِنِّي لَسْتُ صَائِمًا» فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلُّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالْأَبْصَارُ}

✧ We were with ʿAbd Allah when a drink was brought to him. He said, "Pass it to the people." They said, "We are fasting." He said, "But I am not fasting." So he drank, then recited: {They fear a day in which the hearts and eyes will turn about}.
