حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ عَنِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
«يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تَعَلَّمُوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَا يَدْرِي مَتَى يَحْتَلُّ إِلَيْهِ» فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَنْكُوسًا؟ قَالَ «ذَلِكَ مَنْكُوسُ الْقَلْبِ» فَقَالَ وَأُتِيَ بِمُصْحَفٍ قَدْ زُيِّنَ وَذُهِّبَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «إِنَّ أَحْسَنَ مَا زُيِّنَ بِهِ الْمُصْحَفُ تِلَاوَتُهُ فِي الْحَقِّ»

✧ “O people, learn, for one of you does not know when he will be in need of it.” Then a man came to him and said, “O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, what do you think of a man who recites the Quran in reverse order?” He said, “That is one whose heart is reversed.” Then a muṣḥaf was brought to him that had been adorned and gilded, and ʿAbdullāh said, “The best adornment of a muṣḥaf is its recitation in truth.”
