حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
أَفْرَسُ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثَةٌ صَاحِبَةُ مُوسَى الَّتِي قَالَتْ {يَا أَبَتِ اسْتَأْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ} قَالَ وَمَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ قُوَّتِهِ؟ قَالَتْ جَاءَ إِلَى الْبِئْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ صَخْرَةٌ لَا يُقِلُّهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا فَرَفَعَهَا قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ أَمَانَتِهِ؟ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَمْشِي أَمَامَهُ فَجَعَلَنِي خَلْفَهُ وَصَاحِبُ يُوسُفَ حَيْثُ قَالَ {أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنْفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا} وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ حِينَ اسْتَخْلَفَ عُمَرَ

✧ The most perceptive of people are three: the companion of Musa who said, {O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy}. He said, "What did you see of his strength?" She said, "He came to the well with a rock over it that so-and-so many could not lift, and he lifted it." He said, "What did you see of his trustworthiness?" She said, "I was walking in front of him and he put me behind him." And the companion of Yusuf when he said, {Make his stay comfortable; perhaps he will benefit us or we will take him as a son}. And Abu Bakr when he appointed Umar as successor.
