حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ أنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عُمَرَ ؓ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ نِسَائِهِ يَأْتِيهَا مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحِجَابِ فَيَقُولَ لَهَا «يَا بُنَيَّةُ إِنَّ فُلَانًا قَدْ خَطَبَكِ فَإِنْ كَرِهْتِيهِ فَقُولِي لَا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَسْتَحِي أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَقُولَ لَا وَإِنْ أَحْبَبْتِ فَإِنَّ سُكُوتَكِ إِقْرَارٌ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to marry one of his women, he would come to her from behind the veil and say to her, "O my daughter, so-and-so has proposed to you. If you dislike him, say no, for no one should be ashamed to say no. And if you accept, then your silence is consent."
