حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ عَارِمٌ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ مُجَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا قُعُودًا عِنْدَ بَابِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ فَأَتَى أَبُو مُوسَى فَقَالَ أَخْرَجَ إِلَيْكُمْ أَبُو عَبْدِ بِالرَّحْمَنِ؟ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ

أَبُو مُوسَى مَا جَاءَ بِكَ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ؟ قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ إِلَّا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَمْرًا ذَعَرَنِي وَإِنَّهُ لَخَيْرٌ وَلَقَدْ ذَعَرَنِي وَإِنَّهُ لَخَيْرٌ قَوْمٌ جُلُوسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَجُلٌ يَقُولُ لَهُمْ سَبِّحُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا احْمَدُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَانْطَلَقْنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى أَتَاهُمْ فَقَالَ «مَا أَسْرَعَ مَا ضَلَلْتُمْ وَأَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَحْيَاءُ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ شَوَابٌّ وَثِيَابُهُ وَآنِيَتُهُ لَمْ تُغَيَّرْ أَحْصُوا سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ فَأَنَا أَضْمَنُ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُحْصِيَ حَسَنَاتِكُمْ»

Translation

✧ Abū Mūsā said, “What has brought you at this hour?” He said, “No, by God, except that I saw a matter that alarmed me, and indeed it is good, and indeed it alarmed me, and indeed it is good: a people sitting in the mosque and a man saying to them, ‘Glorify such and such, praise such and such.’” He said, so ʿAbdullāh set out, and we set out with him until he came to them and said, “How quickly you have gone astray, while the companions of Muḥammad ﷺ are alive, his wives are young, and his garments and vessels have not changed. Count your evil deeds, for I guarantee from God that He will count your good deeds.”
