حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهَجَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

إِنَّمَا هُمَا اثْنَتَانِ الْهَدْيُ وَالْكَلَامُ وَأَصْدَقُ الْحَدِيثِ كَلَامُ اللهِ وَأَحْسَنُ الْهَدْيِ هَدْيُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ وَشَرُّ الْأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا وَكُلُّ مُحْدَثَةٍ بِدْعَةٌ وَكُلُّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلَالَةٌ وَكُلُّ ضَلَالَةٍ فِي النَّارِ

Translation

✧ It is only two things: guidance and speech. The most truthful speech is the speech of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muḥammad ﷺ. The worst of affairs are their newly invented ones, and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
