حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْقَطِرَانِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الطُّفَيْلِ ثنا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ

كُنَّا عِنْدَ حُذَيْفَةَ بِحِذَاءِ دَارِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ «مَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا أَشْبَهُ دَلًّا وَلَا سَمْتًا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ صَاحِبِ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ مِنْ حِينِ يَخْرُجُ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَإِذَا تَوَارَى فَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ لَقَدْ عَلِمَ الْمَحْظُوظُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَقْرَبِهِمْ وَسِيلَةً إِلَى اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

Translation

✧ We were with Hudhayfah opposite the house of ʿAbd Allah, and he said: "I do not know of anyone more similar in manner and conduct to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than the occupant of this house, from the time he leaves until he enters his home. When he is concealed, then Allah knows best. The fortunate ones among the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ certainly knew that he is among the closest of them in means (wasilah) to Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
