حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ فَأَقْبَلَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ

حُذَيْفَةُ «إِنَّ أَشْبَهَ النَّاسِ هَدْيًا وَدَلًّا وَقَصْدًا وَخُطْبَةً بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ حِينِ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ وَلَا أَدْرِي مَا يَصْنَعُ فِي أَهْلِهِ لَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمَ الْمَحْظُوظُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ مِنْ أَقْرَبِهِمْ وَسِيلَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

Translation

✧ Hudhayfa said: “The person most resembling the Messenger of God ﷺ in manner, bearing, moderation, and address from the time he leaves his house until he returns—though I do not know what he does with his family—is ʿAbdullah b. Masʿud. By God, the fortunate ones among the Companions of Muhammad know that ʿAbdullah is among the closest of them in nearness to God on the Day of Resurrection.”
