حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ خَرَجَ يَسْتَسْقِي وَخَرَجَ بِالْعَبَّاسِ مَعَهُ يَسْتَسْقِي فَيَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا إِذَا قَحَطْنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ تَوَسَّلْنَا إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّنَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَإِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ وَرَضِيَ عَنْهُ»

✧ ʿUmar ؓ went out to pray for rain and took al-ʿAbbās with him to pray for rain, saying, "O Allah, we used to seek intercession with You through our Prophet ﷺ when we suffered drought during the time of our Prophet ﷺ, and now we seek intercession with You through the uncle of our Prophet ﷺ, so accept it from him."
