حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ صَفِيَّةَ عَنْ خَالِهِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ قَالَتْ
سَأَلْتُ عُثْمَانَ لِمَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَ خُرُوجِهِ مِنَ الْكَعْبَةِ؟ فَقَالَ قَالَ لِي «رَأَيْتُ قَرْنَيِ الْكَبْشِ فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ آمُرَكَ أَنْ تُخَمِّرَهُمَا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي الْبَيْتِ شَيْءٌ يَشْغَلُ مُصَلِّيًا»

✧ I asked ʿUthmān: Why did the Prophet ﷺ send for you after he came out of the Kaʿbah? He said: He said to me: “I saw the two horns of the ram and forgot to command you to cover them, for nothing should be in the House that distracts a person praying.”
