حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ أَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَالَ

آخِرُ كَلَامٍ كَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذِ اسْتَعْمَلَنِي عَلَى الطَّائِفِ قَالَ «خَفِّفِ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى النَّاسِ حَتَّى وَقَّتَ سَبَّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَاقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ وَأَشْبَاهَهَا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ The last words the Messenger of God ﷺ spoke to me when he appointed me over al-Ṭāʾif were: 'Make the prayer light for the people,' until he specified: 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' and 'Recite in the name of your Lord who created' and similar surahs of the Qurʾān.
