حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الرَّقِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ السَّرِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ وَكَانَ عَاقِلًا ثنا الْحَسَنُ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا شَاعِرًا وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ قَصَّ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ أَفْضَى بَيْنَهُمُ الْقَتْلُ

أَنْ قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَوَلَيْسَ خِيَارُكُمْ أَوْلَادَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ حَتَّى يُعْرِبَ فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ أَوْ يُمَجِّسَانِهِ»

Translation

✧ When they killed the offspring, the Prophet ﷺ was informed about it. He said, "Are not the best of you those who are born to the polytheists? Every newborn is born on the fitrah (natural inclination towards Islam) until his parents make him a Jew, a Christian, or a Magian."
