حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أنا أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
«صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ ؓ وَعَلِيٌّ هَاهُنَا بِالْكُوفَةِ نَحْوًا مِنْ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ وَكَانُوا لَا يَقْنُتُونَ فِي الْفَجْرِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا بُنَيَّ مُحْدَثٌ»
Translation

✧ "I prayed behind the Messenger of God ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman ؓ, and Ali here in al-Kufah for about five years, and they did not perform qunut in the Fajr prayer." Then he said, "O my son, it is a newly invented matter."
