حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّهْبَاءِ ثنا أَبُو غَالِبٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَسْمَعُ أَذَانًا فَقَامَ إِلَى وُضُوئِهِ إِلَّا غُفِرَ لَهُ فِي أَوَّلِ قَطْرَةٍ يَصُبُّ كَفُّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْمَاءِ فَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الْقَطْرِ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَهُ مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ فَيَقُومُ إِلَى صَلَاتِهِ وَهِيَ نَافِلَةٌ» قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ؟ قَالَ «وَالَّذِي بَعَثَهُ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَا ثَلَاثًا وَلَا أَرْبَعًا وَلَا عَشْرًا» وَطَبَّقَ بِيَدِهِ

✧ I heard Abū Umāmah say: “There is no Muslim who hears the call to prayer and then rises to perform his ablution except that he is forgiven at the first drop his palm pours of that water. After that drop, God forgives him his past sins, so he rises to his prayer, and it is supererogatory.” I said: “Did you hear this from the Messenger of God ﷺ, O Abū Umāmah?” He said: “By the One who sent him with the truth as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner—not once, not twice, not three times, not four times, not ten times,” and he clasped his hands together.
