حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَالِكٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «خُذُوا الْعِلْمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْفَدَ» ثَلَاثًا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ يَنْفَدُ وَفِينَا كِتَابُ اللهِ؟ فَغَضِبَ لَا يُغْضِبُهُ اللهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ثَكِلَتْكُمْ أُمَّهَاتُكُمْ أَلَمْ تَكُنِ التَّوْرَاةُ وَالْإِنْجِيلُ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يُغْنِ عَنْهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ ذَهَابَ الْعِلْمِ ذَهَابُ حَمَلَتِهِ» ثَلَاثًا

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Take hold of knowledge before it vanishes,” three times. They said, “O Messenger of God, how can it vanish while the Book of God is among us?” He became angry in a way God would not cause him to be angry, then said, “May your mothers be bereaved of you! Were not the Torah and the Gospel among the Children of Israel, and then they availed them nothing? The departure of knowledge is the departure of its bearers,” three times.
