حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ سَالِمٍ الشَّاشِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَضْرِبُوا إِمَاءَ اللهِ» فَتَرَكُوا ضَرْبَهُنَّ فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ ذَئِرَ النِّسَاءُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِضَرْبِهِنَّ فَأَطَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ نِسَاءٌ كَثِيرٌ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ «لَقَدْ طَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اللَّيْلَةَ سَبْعُونَ امْرَأَةً كُلُّهُنَّ يَشْتَكِي الضَّرْبَ وَايْمُ اللهِ مَا أَحْسَبُ أُولَئِكَ خِيَارَكُمْ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not strike the female servants of Allah." So they stopped striking them. Then 'Umar came and said: "By Allah, the women have become defiant toward their husbands." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that they strike them. Then many women came to the family of Muhammad ﷺ, and when morning came he said: "Seventy women came to the family of Muhammad last night, all of them complaining of the beating. By Allah, I do not think those are among the best of you."
