حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ثنا قَزَعَةُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ حُجَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِي قَالَ

لَقِيتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ وَالْمُزْدَلِفَةُ فَأَخَذْتُ بِخِطَامِ نَاقَتِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَيُبَاعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ؟ فَقَالَ «أَمَا وَاللهِ لَئِنْ كُنْتَ أَوْجَزْتَ الْمَسْأَلَةَ لَقَدْ عَظَّمْتَ وَأَطْوَلْتَ أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ وَأَدِّ الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ وَحُجَّ الْبَيْتَ وَمَا أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ يَفْعَلَهُ النَّاسُ بِكَ فَافْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ وَمَا كَرِهْتَ أَنْ يَفْعَلَهُ النَّاسُ بِكَ فَدَعِ النَّاسَ مِنْهُ خَلِّ خِطَامَ النَّاقَةِ» قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ وَقَالَهُ صَخْرُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ الْبَاهِلِيُّ

✧ I met the Prophet ﷺ between Arafah and Muzdalifah, so I took hold of the halter of his she-camel and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what will bring me near Paradise and keep me far from the Fire?" He said, "By Allah, if you have been brief in asking, you have indeed made it great and lengthy. Establish the prescribed prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, perform Hajj to the House, and whatever you would love people to do to you, do it to them; and whatever you would hate people to do to you, leave people alone from it. Let go of the halter of the she-camel." Ibrahim b. al-Hajjaj said: "And Sakhr b. al-Qa'qa' al-Bahili said it."
