حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ دِهْقَانَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ وَمُوسَى بْنُ سَهْلٍ أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ قَالَا ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ دِهْقَانَ أَخْبَرَنِي خَالِدٌ سَبَلَانُ عَنْ كُهَيْلِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّهُ أَقْبَلَ حَتَّى نَزَلَ عَلَى أَبِي كُلْثُومٍ الدَّوْسِيِّ فَتَذَاكَرُوا الصَّلَاةَ الْوُسْطَى فَقَالَ اخْتَلَفْنَا فِيهَا كَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ وَنَحْنُ بِفِنَاءِ بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِينَا الرَّجُلُ الصَّالِحُ أَبُو هَاشِمِ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ فَقَالَ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ لَكُمْ ذَلِكَ «فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ جَرِيئًا عَلَيْهِ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ فَدَخَلَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا فَأَخْبَرَنَا أَنَّهَا صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ»

✧ He came and stayed with Abu Kulthum al-Dawsi. They discussed the middle prayer, and he said: 'We differed about it just as you have differed, while we were in the courtyard of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ house. Among us was the righteous man Abu Hashim b. 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah b. 'Abd Shams. He said: "I know that for you." So he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, being bold with him, asked permission, entered, then came out to us and told us that it is the 'Asr prayer.'
