حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ ثنا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَّارُ قَالَا ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْظِيِّ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ السُّلَمِيُّ الْمَدَنِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّهِ شَدَّادٍ

أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَاشْتَكَى فَقَالَ «مَالَكَ يَا شَدَّادُ» قَالَ قُلْتُ اشْتَكَيْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلَوْ شَرِبْتُ مِنْ مَاءِ بَطْحَاءَ لَبَرِأْتُ قَالَ «فَمَا يَمْنَعُكَ» قُلْتُ هِجْرَتِي قَالَ «فَاذْهَبْ فَأَنْتَ مُهَاجِرٌ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتَ»

✧ He came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him for emigration, then fell ill. He ﷺ said: “What is the matter with you, O Shaddad?” I said: “I am ill, O Messenger of Allah. If I could drink from the water of Batha, I would recover.” He said: “What prevents you?” I said: “My emigration.” He said: “Go, for you are an emigrant wherever you are.”
