حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ السَّمُرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مَرَّةً إِذَا جَاءَتِ الْأَحْزَابُ حَرِّمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ سَقْيَ النَّخْلِ فَقَالَ «لَوْ أَنِّي أُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْكُمُ احْتَرَقْتُمْ وَإِنَّ تَحْرِيمَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ لَا تُطِيقُهُ الْجِبَالُ»

✧ A man once said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: When the confederates come, forbid the people of Madinah from irrigating the palm trees. He replied: “If I were to make things forbidden for you, you would be ruined. Indeed, the prohibitions of the prophets are things mountains cannot bear.”
