حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُقْبِلٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا رَيْحَانُ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الْخَارِكِيُّ ثنا عَوْفُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ الْعَوْدِيُّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الصَّائِغِ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ مَطَرًا الْوَرَّاقَ فَقُلْتُ أَيَقْرَأُ الرَّجُلُ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَيَتَعَوَّذُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ وَفِي كُلِّ سُورَةٍ يَفْتَتِحُهَا؟ فَقَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي قَتَادَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ وَسَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «هُمَا السَّكْتَتَانِ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي نَفْسِهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا نَهَضَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ»

✧ I asked Matar al-Warraq: "Does a man recite 'Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim' and seek refuge from the accursed Satan in every rak'ah and in every surah that he begins?" He said: "Qatadah informed me from Muhammad b. Sirin from 'Imran b. Husayn and Samurah b. Jundub from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: 'There are two pauses: he does that within himself when he begins the prayer and when he rises from sitting after the two rak'ahs.'"
