حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ قَالَ سَمُرَةُ «حَفِظْتُ
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَكْتَةً إِذَا كَبَّرَ وَسَكْتَةً إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ قِرَاءَةِ السُّورَةِ» فَعَابَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فَكَتَبُوا إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فِي ذَلِكَ فَكَتَبَ أُبَيٌّ صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ وَيَقُولُ إِنَّ سَمُرَةَ حَفِظَ الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: [Samura said] "a pause when he said the takbīr, and a pause when he finished reciting the sūrah." ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn objected to that, so they wrote to Ubayy b. Kaʿb about it, and Ubayy wrote back: "Samura spoke the truth," and he said: "Samura memorized the ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
