حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى أَبُو مُوسَى ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُحَيْرِيزٍ حَدَّثَهُ
وَكَانَ يَتِيمًا فِي حِجْرِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ فَجَهَّزَهُ إِلَى الشَّامِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ إِنِّي خَارِجٌ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَأَخْشَى أَنْ أُسْأَلَ عَنْ تَأْذِينِكَ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ أَبَا مَحْذُورَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ فِي نَفَرٍ وَكُنَّا بِبَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالصَّلَاةِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَمِعْنَا صَوْتَ الْمُؤَذِّنِ وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَهُ فَصَرَخْنَا نَحْكِيهِ لِيَسْمَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصَّوْتَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا فَوَقَفْنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيُّكُمُ الَّذِي سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَهُ قَدِ ارْتَفَعَ؟» فَأَشَارَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ إِلَيَّ وَصَدَقُوا فَأَرْسَلَهُمْ كُلَّهُمْ وَحَبَسَنِي قَالَ «فَقُمْ فَأَذِّنْ بِالصَّلَاةِ» فَقُمْتُ وَلَا شَيْءَ أَكْرَهُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا مِمَّا يَأْمُرُنِي بِهِ فَقُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ التَّأْذِينَ هُوَ بِنَفْسِهِ فَقَالَ قُلِ «اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِيَ ارْجِعْ فَمُدَّ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ فَقُلْ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ثُمَّ دَعَانِي حِينَ قَضَيْتُ التَّأْذِينَ فَأَعْطَانِي صُرَّةً فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى نَاصِيَةِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَّهَا عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ عَلَى كَبِدِهِ ثُمَّ بَلَغَتْ يَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صُرَّةَ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مُرْنِي بِالتَّأْذِينِ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ «قَدْ فَعَلْتُ» وَذَهَبَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي قَلْبِي مِنْ كَرَاهِيَةٍ وَعَادَ ذَلِكَ كُلُّهُ مَحَبَّةً لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى عَتَّابِ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ عَامَلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَذَّنْتُ مَعَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ He was an orphan in the care of Abu Mahdhurah, who equipped him for Syria. He said: I said to Abu Mahdhurah, "I am going to Syria, and I fear that I will be asked about your adhan." So he informed me that Abu Mahdhurah told him: He said: I went out with a group, and we were on part of the road when the mu'adhdhin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called to prayer in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We heard the voice of the mu'adhdhin while we were near him, and we shouted, imitating him, so that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ might hear the voice. He sent for us, and we stood before him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Which of you is the one whose voice I heard raised?" The people all pointed to me, and they were truthful. He sent them all away and detained me. He said, "Get up and call the adhan for prayer." I got up, and nothing was more hateful to me than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and what he commanded me. I stood before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he himself dictated the adhan to me. He said: Say: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah." Then he said to me, "Go back and extend your voice, and say: Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah; Hayya 'ala al-salah, Hayya 'ala al-salah; Hayya 'ala al-falah, Hayya 'ala al-falah; Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha illa Allah." Then he called me when I had finished the adhan and gave me a purse containing some silver. Then he placed his hand on the forelock of Abu Mahdhurah, then passed it over his face from the front, then over his liver, and the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached the purse of Abu Mahdhurah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless you and bless upon you." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, command me to call the adhan in Makkah." He said, "I have already done so." Every feeling of dislike in my heart toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ vanished, and all of it turned into love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I came to 'Attab b. Asid, the governor of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and called the adhan for prayer with him by the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
