al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 651

✧ On the Day of Judgement, Allah has prepared punishment and anger for those who steal the wealth of a Muslim, or falsely swear on them with a false oath.

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُوسَى السُّدِّيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أُمِّ حَكِيمٍ بِنْتِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْجَدَلِيَّةِ قَالَتْ اسْتَأْذَنَ الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَرَدَّهُ قَنْبَرٌ فَأَدْمَى أَنْفَهُ فَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ

«مَا لَكَ وَمَا لَهُ يَا أَشْعَثُ؟ أَمْ وَاللهِ لَوْ بِعَبْدِ ثَقِيفٍ تَمَرَّسْتَ اقْشَعَرَّتْ شُعَيْرَاتُ اسْتِكَ» قِيلَ لَهُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَنْ عَبْدُ ثَقِيفٍ؟ قَالَ «غُلَامٌ يَلِيهِمْ لَا يَبْقَى أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمْ ذُلًّا» قِيلَ كَمْ يَمْلِكُ؟ قَالَ «عِشْرِينَ إِنْ بَلَغَ»

✧ "What do you have to do with him, O Ash'ath? By Allah, if you were to wrestle with the servant of Thaqif, the little hairs of your buttocks would stand on end." It was said to him, "O Commander of the Believers, and who is the servant of Thaqif?" He said, "A young man who will rule over them; he will not leave any household of the Arabs but he will bring them humiliation." It was said, "How long will he reign?" He said, "Twenty years, if he reaches that."
