حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السَّكُونِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ اللَّيْثِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ بِآبَائِنَا أَنْتَ وَأُمَّهَاتِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَسْمَعُ مِنْكَ الْحَدِيثَ فَلَا نَقْدِرُ أَنْ نُؤَدِّيَهُ كَمَا سَمِعْنَاهُ؟ فَقَالَ «إِذَا لَمْ تُحِلُّوا حَرَامًا وَلَمْ تُحَرِّمُوا حَلَالًا وَأَصَبْتُمُ الْمَعْنَى فَلَا بَأْسَ»

✧ We came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said to him, “By our fathers and mothers, O Messenger of God, we hear a hadith from you but we are unable to transmit it exactly as we heard it.” He said, “If you do not make lawful what is unlawful and do not make unlawful what is lawful, and you get the meaning right, then there is no harm.”
