حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَلْطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا سُوَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ قَالَ

خَرَجْنَا نُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَمَعَنَا وَائِلُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ فَأَخَذَهُ عَدُوٌّ لَهُ فَتَحَرَّجَ الْقَوْمُ أَنْ يَحْلِفُوا فَحَلَفْتُ أَنَّهُ أَخِي فَخَلَّوْا سَبِيلَهُ فَأَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ «صَدَقْتَ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ»

✧ We set out intending to go to the Prophet ﷺ, and Wa'il b. Hujr was with us. An enemy of his seized him. The people were reluctant to take an oath, so I swore that he was my brother, and they released him. Then we came to the Prophet ﷺ and I informed him. He said, "You have spoken the truth. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim."
