حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ

كُنَّا فِي رَمَضَانَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ وَافْتَدَى بِطَعَامِ مِسْكِينٍ حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ}

✧ In Ramadan during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whoever wished fasted and whoever wished broke his fast and fed a poor person as ransom, until this verse was revealed: {So whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast it}.
